Hi there, do you mean why did I choose to work at my department I work at here at the University of Bristol? I chose to work here in Bristol because the University is great, one the best in country, and because my supervisor is an excellent researcher and an excellent person. I’m really happy to be here and to have my job.

If you mean why did I choose to work at Aberystwyth University, it was because my previous job in Sweden was coming to an end and I really wanted to be a lecturer so I could teach as well as do research. So I was looking for jobs when the job was advertised here – I passed the interview and got the job and here I am teaching animal behaviour. Yay!
Scientists often travel to get new jobs which can be quite fun. My jobs have taken me to South Africa, Namibia, Germany, Sweden and the USA

I came to Nottingham Trent in 2012 when I started doing a masters degree, I then went to work at the University of Nottingham vet school before coming back for my PhD. I came back because the PhD project was advertised and I thought it sounded really interesting – I applied and I was lucky enough to get a fully funded scholarship 🙂

Great question! Studying animals help us learn about ourselves, how to better take care of them and how to better protect wildlife.

Most of the research we have nowadays focus on humans for humans and I believe that there is still so much undiscovered in the animal kingdom.

I have just always wanted to understand animals and the natural world better so this made sense for me. Once i started studying it I realised I just love and it suits how my mind works. I never found writing assignments for this subject boring and even loved doing exams in it so I guess this must be for me!
