I have always been under the impression that the myth was that cats had 9 lives… although i don’t think there is any actual truth in it. Cats do seem to have an uncanny ability to survive though… they have a self righting mechanism which allows them to generally land on their feet and I think maybe that coupled with their astute senses helps them to get on pretty well in the world 🙂

Cats don’t actually have 7 lives. It just seems that way sometimes when they jump off fences or run across a road. Cats just have the one life. Some animals have lives in different parts: like butterflies which start as a catterpilar, then sleep and change into a butterfly.

I think Ellen’s explanation is really good – go with that one!

Cats don’t really have 7 lives, or 9. Like any other animal plant in the world, cats have only one life. And they are so good at making the most to stay alive, it looks like what they do it’s so impossible, they must have more than one life. Don’t be like a cat. Be sensible!

Hehe that’s a very famous saying but unfortunately its not really true. I think why people in this is because the cat is especially skilled at keeping alive, from falling from tall heights to running away from larger animals like dogs!

The cats in the forest, like the tiger and leopard are the same as well, they are very good in climbing trees and hiding in the bushes. The clouded leopard is known for living in the trees and climbing down them as though as they walking on flat grounds!
