I choose the questions I would like to pose and then consider what species would be most adequate to study to ask those questions. So i’m not sure how to answer your question. But I can tell you one thing, a common theme in my research has been study parental effects, differences in the quality of care that animals provide to their offspring in response to their own condition, or the quality of their mate. I would like to continue working on these questions, so n future I would choose a species that has parental care (pregnancy in mammals for example), females can have several offspring and they reproduce quickly, so I don’t have to wait 10 years before i can answer my questions. I could use many fish, frogs, lizards, some small mammals, and even insects, so my options are almost endless! 🙂

Ooo good question! I am really not sure – I never really had ‘that one animal’ until elephants came along… i could apply my skills to lots of different animals though – i would stick with mammals because that is what I know best but i think i would just be happy studying whatever was there!

The human! I think humans are an interesting species that r not too different from the animals we work on. We subconsciously behave like animals when it comes to seeking a partner, socialising with friends and communicating. Its really cool how similar we are to animals!
