• Question: What fascinates you more about birds?

      Good question! I am fascinated by what they sing and how they learn what to sing – and what their songs look like. If you look at this picture of a song from my profile you can see the detail in what they sing – all this in just 2 seconds. high notes are at the top, low at the bottom, much it is much more complicated than a simple note – it’s more like an orchestra! Birds have two voice boxes which help them do this – one at the entrance to each of their lungs – human voice boxes are higher up the throat. This means birds can make different sounds from each lung or just use one lung at a time – clever stuff.

      I agree with Rupert – how they sing is incredible. i used to be a singer and I really appreciate how amazing they are! Wish i had two voice boxes and could breathe through my lungs differently when i want to.,.

      I also really love how intelligent members of the crow family are.
