My uncle is a medical doctor and distant relations also worked in medicine. But I think I am the first scientist. I hadn’t thought about it before, so thank you for asking and making me realise this!

My Dad used to work as a lab technician before becoming a primary school teacher. None of my other family members are scientists although my sister is at university studying to become an ecological consultant so I guess it depends how broad the definition of science is

Well, my grandparents were both agronomists, granddad worked more as a park ranger in national parks in Angola, while grandma did lab research on coffee beans. But this was well before “my” time. No one else in my family does anything related to science as such, though my mum is a GP. Wondering where our inspiration came from? 🙂

My granddad was a chemist but he died when I was young so I don’t know much about that. My mother-in-law is also an animal behaviourist (and completely nuts!) but science doesn’t really run in my family. They all think it’s cool that I’m a scientist though.

Ah nope, my parents are non-scientist, one is a broker and the other an administrator. I reckon I was more inspired by nature and curiosity for new discoveries rather than my family members.
