The five of us haven’t worked together but there are so many scientists that you don’t get to meet them all or work with them all. At least we’ve met each other now!

As Carrie says we don’t work together but I have helped lots of other people in research, and lots of other people have helped me. It is definitely a team effort!

Scientists often meet a conferences to talk about their research. Even if we don’t work together on the same project or experiment, we will still share ideas and discuss what we are doing – this can be really helpful. I don’t work with many people in my department but I still discuss ideas with them. Who we work with depends on what question we want to answer and whether we have all the skills we need to answer it. Sometimes it’s just easier to do something together. I haven’t done research with any of the others in this zone but Ines and I worked in the same place in Sweden once and I have met all the others. Animal Behaviour is like a big family of scientists with similar interests

Of course! Researchers work in teams most of the time and we also collaborate with other researchers or other teams temporarily, like for a particular experiment or something. Plus we love to discuss our work and our findings as well as hearing about other researchers work so often you find yourself exchanging knowledge and helping each other out.

Haha yes. I probably have read a number of papers from the other scientists. And Rupert and I have crossed paths many times and exchanged ideas on science education. So a definite yes!
