Elephants don’t set out to kill other elephants generally but sometimes during the breeding season when male elephants are in what we call musth (this is when they are sexually mature, are ready for breeding and are prepared to fight for their females) and they are full of testosterone and fighting with other bulls for females an elephant may die during the conflict. Similarly calves may die if they get caught up when the adults are mating and get trampled. Elephants aren’t an aggressive species by nature though 🙂
