My ideal place to work depends on what I am doing. If I am recording birds I need to be outside. My favourite place for recording birds is on the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, off the top left coast of Scotland. There are beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal blue seas and lovely meadows to sit in while the birds sing from the dunes and fence posts.

If I am analysing the songs then I can do this anywhere. Sitting at my kitchen table is nice! Even if it is raining outside, I can hear the sounds of summer over the speakers.

If I’m doing something that needs concentration then I need total peace with no interruptions. I have a nice office so it would be there, with the right music on my headphones, the door closed and a cup of coffee.

if I’m collecting data then it would be outside on a sunny day in the summer. Unfortunately, collecting horse data doesn’t really take me anywhere very exotic or adventurous 🙁 I’d love to be at the outer Hebrides like Rupert!
