      I’m don’t know specifically about elephants but getting drunk is quite common in the animals kingdom. When fruit is late in the season it gets full of sugar and then it ferments in the sun and that creates alcohol. I’ve seen very drunk wasps – they couldn’t fly and kept falling off the picnic table! Alcohol has rewarding properties so once animals learn where they can find it they will often consume it
