It can take a bit of time for all the sexual hormones to leave the body after castration. Also, sometimes sexual behaviour is due to another source of frustration and isn’t purely to do with sex. For example, sometime one dog will hump another dog because it wants the toy it has and that is frustrating it.

They might stop once all the hormones are out of their system

As Carrie says it can take a while for the hormones to leave the body completely. But humping can also be a dominance thing (the humper is trying to show dominance over the humpee – sorry couldn’t think of a better way to phrase) or a play thing!
